Pharos Control for Sydney’s new WestConnex M8 motorway
Australian Pharos Partner Lightmoves has recently delivered a project that called for a phenomenal scale of decorative lighting.
This included lighting the 9km of tunnel in each direction, as well as the entryway, exits, and surrounding landscape. The Pharos LPC 30 was the obvious choice for the project after a vigorous testing process.

The Pharos team has worked very closely with them to meet all their needs and Andrew Sherar, Technical Director at Lightmoves shares how Pharos R&D was instrumental in delivering this project:
“The Westconnex M8 arterial link utilised Pharos LPC 30 controllers to deploy the decorative elements within the tunnel & supporting portals & bridge elements. Various technical challenges arose due to the controller needing to communicate with 40 field Art-net decoders across a routed network that was deployed for crucial tunnel services such as signage, CCTV & emergency communication.
With multiple VLANs deployed, Lightmoves worked closely with the Pharos support & R&D teams to provide a routing option for eDMX Art-net rather than the traditional flat network topology normally utilised. The decorative lighting was deemed mission critical, therefore requiring a second LPC 30 to provide redundancy. The extensive scripting capability via LUA and the comprehensive trigger options allowed real time monitoring of the master unit, with seamless transition to the redundant unit on unit failure or loss of network from the main unit location.”
