The Elite Event Technology (EET) team delivered yet another first class AV production at The National Convention Centre in Canberra, this time for Locate22 – the surveying and geospatial annual event.
VuePix Infiled LED mesh panels were set up at the main stage in the Royal Theatre, creating a vivid backdrop for all the speakers and presentations. The screens were suspended from the truss in 6 huge columns, each consisting of 20 panels. The EET team used their E12 mesh screen for this gig, as all of their other 2000+sqm of the VuePix Infiled screens were used on other productions at the same time. The E12 mesh panels were one of EET’s first investments with VuePix Infiled, which was over 10 years ago … “and they still perform flawlessly and look great on camera!” says Darren Russell, MD of EET.
EET also provided a complete audio-visual package for several other rooms – Breakout and Concurrent sessions in all of the other conference spaces within NCCC, which were utilised for running supporting events simultaneously. All rooms included virtual speakers, streaming and hybrid solutions.
“This event included many challenges and last minute changes thanks to COVID still coming into play”, comments Darren. “As always, our experienced team was up for the challenge and delivered a stellar event! This was the first time we have managed the full production for this conference, and its first time being hosted in Canberra. The feedback from the client and their guests is that it was the best Locate event ever, which makes us very proud and makes all the hard work count!”.

Each year, the Locate conference attracts national and international delegates from within and outside the spatial & surveying industry.
As Australia’s premier spatial & surveying conference, Locate provides guests with a unique opportunity to learn about the latest trends and applications in geospatial technologies.
This year, Locate22 incorporated dedicated streams into the format of the conference. This enabled focused discussion from across industry sectors on how location technologies and practices are being used, highlighting the fundamental role they play in shaping Australia’s future.
“The events are back!!! … that is for sure”, says Darren, sounding really exhausted but happy. “We are running at 300% I would say and we literally have not had a break for 5+ months or even more. This would usually be a quieter time for us after the government change, however this year we are running events back to back and have already done the amount of productions we would normally do by the end of the year! That is how crazy it is at the moment. No complaints at all, but is it Christmas yet?! ”
