Acme Solar Flares witnessed a unique cooperation between two renowned Chinese dance theatres in a brand new ‘Exchange’ performance, which had its debut at Shanghai Oriental Art Centre.
The famous TAO Dance Theatre met at the one stage with Cloud Gate Theatre in a contemporary dance performance by Asia’s leading choreographers – Tao Ye, Cheng Tsung-lung and Lin Hwai-min.
‘Cloud Gate’ is the name of the oldest known dance in China. Cloud Gate Theatre, founded in 1973, is acclaimed as one of the finest contemporary dance theatres in the world. TAO Dance Theatre, led by Tao Ye, adopted traditional eastern style into its dances and toured with their performances in more than 40 countries.
The ‘Exchange’ features some of the best dance artists in the world in breath-taking performance, celebrating the nature, the forces and the beauty of the traditional Chinese dance.
Acme Solar Flares were used to highlight the elegance of the dancers, evoke spirits of the natural elements and create a special atmosphere for this unique collaboration.
